Trust Assistant Manager - Tax
We are working with a prestigious client based in Central London who are looking for a Trust Assistant Manager, who will be part of the delivery team responsible for managing a portfolio of trusts, assisting with advisory matters, delivering annual tax compliance and planning for a range of trust clients.
This role and specialism will be working with high-net-worth individuals & helping them navigate complex legal and financial matters, and providing assistance with practice partners.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing a portfolio of trusts.
- Assisting with advisory matters and correspondence as appropriate.
- Ad-hoc assignments in connection with the client's affairs - incorporating inheritance tax, income tax and capital gains tax.
- Reviewing returns and claims prepared by junior members of staff and supervision of those team members where relevant to this work.
- Handling routine client administration including cash flow management, trust distributions, investment transactions, preparation of correspondence, billing and administration.
- Preparing and updating annual trust accounts, writing explanatory covering letters and attending trustee meetings.
- Compiling information relevant to the registration of all trusts and estates with HMRC and input of that information on their online system. Preparing any associated communications with the trustees where appropriate.
- Liaising with the practice partners directly, as the case suits.
- Working without supervision showing an initiative in dealing with clients' affairs.
To be successful in this role, you should:
- Have ability to manage workload in order to prioritise work to meet conflicting deadlines
- Good written communication skills are necessary to draft correspondence with clients and HMRC to explain technical issues in an easily understandable manner.
- Must have good inter-personal skills to be able to liaise with clients and other staff members.
- Ability to meet deadlines and respond to client needs.
Education and Experience:
- ACA/ATT/CTA equivalent qualification (Preferred)
- Experience gained within a professional services firm.
- Good knowledge of personal tax compliance and ideally some exposure to planning/advisory work
