Management Accountant
Northampton - hybrid role
Contract: Full-time & Temp-to-Perm role (would require to be on short notice)
We are seeking a commercially focused Management Accountant to join a dynamic and fast-growing e-commerce and manufacturing business. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in driving financial performance by delivering accurate reporting, insightful analysis, and strategic support to the wider team.
As a Management Accountant, you will collaborate with both the commercial and manufacturing teams, ensuring data-driven decision-making across all areas of the business. Your expertise will help optimise processes, improve financial insights, and support ongoing growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Preparing monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
Supporting month-end and year-end closing processes, including accruals, prepayments, and journal entries.
Analysing variances between actuals, budgets, and forecasts.
Developing and preparing KPIs for management review.
Providing cost and margin analysis across products, sales channels, and regions.
Assisting with annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
Preparing weekly cash forecasts and monitoring performance against budgets.
Monitoring manufacturing costs, BOM accuracy, labour allocation, and overhead absorption.
Performing inventory valuation and reconciliation in line with cost accounting principles.
Analysing e-commerce sales performance and developing pricing models.
Supporting process improvements and ERP/accounting system optimisation.
Ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.
Skills & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Professional accounting qualification (CIMA/ACCA) or part qualified looking to complete fairly soon
At least 3 years' experience in a management accounting or similar role.
Strong analytical and commercial acumen with advanced Excel skills.
Experience in e-commerce, multi-channel sales, and manufacturing environments.
Knowledge of inventory systems, ERP, and e-commerce platforms.
Desirable:
Experience with cost accounting in a manufacturing setting.
Familiarity with Shopify and other e-commerce payment platforms.
Understanding of digital sales metrics and import/export accounting.
