Management Accountant - Oxford - Permanant

Savant are pleased to be supporting a well-established business on the outskirts of Oxford in their search for a Management Accountant to join their small but friendly finance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional who enjoys working in a varied, hands-on role within a collaborative environment. Reporting into the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in the day-to-day finance function, taking ownership of the general ledger and supporting the production of accurate and timely financial information.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.


• Prepare monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary.


• Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies.


• Prepare and post journals including accruals, prepayments and fixed assets.


• Assist with the month-end and year-end close processes.


• Support budgeting and forecasting activities.


• Analyse financial performance and provide meaningful insights to support business decision-making.


• Prepare VAT returns and assist with other statutory reporting requirements.


• Support cash flow reporting and balance sheet management.


• Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting.


• Assist with the annual audit and respond to auditor queries.


• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and controls.


• Provide support across the wider finance function when required.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

• Previous experience in a Management Accountant or General Ledger Accountant position.


• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end processes.


• Experience preparing management accounts.


• Excellent reconciliation and analytical skills.


• Strong Excel skills and confidence using accounting systems.


• Good communication skills with the ability to build relationships across the business.


• A proactive, organised approach with strong attention to detail.


• Ideally studying towards or qualified in ACCA, CIMA or ACA, although qualified by experience candidates will also be considered.
