What did you hope to achieve during your internship at Savant?
My time at Savant has been a wonderful experience. I started my internship with the hope that I would learn more about marketing and the realities of it, away from just the textbook definitions. Additionally, I hoped to gain a better knowledge of the planning and preparation that goes into creating content, as well as seeing the links between other job roles and how this paints an overall picture of the company. It was also important to me to see and experience the creation timeline of content, from the market research, down to the design and integration of content into the company's focus points.
What skills have you learned?
I have learned many valuable skills during my time at Savant. It opened my eyes to many elements of Marketing that I hadn't considered beforehand. It was great listening in on meetings and seeing the thought processes behind planning associated content and then reaping the benefits of it. As well as learning the importance of planning ahead and covering all areas of a topic, which is definitely something I will take away with me.
It has also been great to test my creativity when it comes to producing content. Something that I will continue to work on. Specifically, I see that striking the balance between professional yet engaging designs is essential. Additionally, taking an open-minded approach to the software Savant uses so I could try new things - I think Canva has great capabilities to market in a modern way and I think there is an opportunity to create advertisement videos that has perhaps not yet been explored. Furthermore, when content was published, I could see how Linkedin is a great marketing tool, but also the use of the established database that Savant has. It has enabled me to understand the direct connection between good marketing leading to increased sales, which in turn leads to Savant’s continued growth
Finally, it has been great to work alongside Manj and I am very grateful for her taking the time to give me interesting work to do and give me support throughout. It has also been great to understand her job role as well as how she works alongside other employees to ensure all the content is relevant to the different recruitment areas Savant deals with.
What was your experience of the company culture at savant?
It has been brilliant experiencing the culture at Savant and see how each person plays an intricate part in the business as a whole. Every member of staff I met and spoke to was so welcoming and friendly and truly interested in hearing about what I wanted to get out of the internship. I was made to feel like a key part of the team, trusted, and definitely felt like I was appreciated.
It was great to see everyone's involvement and interactions with each other. I have gained knowledge on the importance of understanding everyone's roles and how this benefits the success of Savants marketing. It has also been great to see the perseverance of everyone to get the job done and I think it's brilliant how open everyone is to new ideas and conversations despite how busy everyone is with their day to day activities. Personally, in all the experience I have had, I have never seen a team so willing to work together and all be involved in the final outcome. For example, watching the discussions and planning surrounding the recent Webinar was great as everyone had input and the opportunity to comment, resulting in a successful end product.
From a marketing point of view, do you feel that establishing a strong ESG policy will be beneficial?
As part of my work at Savant I researched ESG and its benefits. From my point of view as a university student working alongside students that will soon be entering the professional world, ESG is incredibly important to a lot of individuals. Demonstrating and describing ESG will have great value not only to attract great upcoming candidates but also to present Savant as a company aware of the importance of environmental, social and government issues that will resonate with clients.
How has your time at Savant helped your personal growth?
I feel my time at Savant has played a big part in my journey to achieve my future career goals, and has certainly helped me navigate what my next steps will be. I plan on taking all the knowledge I have gained and not only applying it to my university degree, but also to my future opportunities and job roles.
