On 1st June 2020, Salesforce announced they had closed a deal for $1.33B to acquire Vlocity.
So who is Vlocity?
Founded back in 2014, Vlocity’s mission statement has been to provide the most optimised solution for whatever industry.
The founders built the specific CRM product directly on the Salesforce platform, and provides “out-of-box and bespoke solutions” for each of the following industries below to date.
6 years later, Vlocity has grown and matured to drive digital transformation for some of the world’s largest companies, and with many more global enterprises understanding the importance in digital transformation and creating a digital first work from anywhere environment - there is for sure no plans for Vlocity to slow down any time soon.
What makes Volcity’s solutions unique is because the product was built directly onto the Salesforce platform. This has given the startup intimate knowledge of Salesforce’s infrastructure as well as its first hand expertise amongst industry specifics.
Whilst the acquisition hasn’t come to any surprise to industry experts, this is a proud milestone for Salesforce and will be instrumental for the tech giant to continue leading the way towards innovating their products towards providing specific industry solutions. And this move signals the importance of making these industry capabilities even more a part of the platform offerings.
Salesforce has also gone on to state that the acquisition of Vlocity is part of an ongoing drive for verticality within the Salesforce ecosystem. And we believe the acquisition of Vlocity marks a turning point into the Salesforce ecosystem that has been developing for some time.
As the partnership's fiscal year comes to an end soon this time this year, what do you think of Salesforce’s decision to strategically partner with Vlocity?
What other ISV partnerships do you think Salesforce should consider next?
